APRILIA TUAREG 660 RALLY (2026)
Aprilia Tuareg 660 Rally: The Mid-Size Adventure King?
The Tuareg 660 Rally takes Aprilia's highly-praised adventure platform and turns it into a high-performance machine designed for on/off-road use. It sits in that "Goldilocks" zone—powerful enough for the highway but light enough for technical trails.
1. What Makes the "Rally" Different?
The Rally edition adds several key upgrades that make it much more "offroad-ready" than the standard model:
-
Heavy-Duty Wheels: It moves to tube-type rims. While these are harder to fix on the side of the road, they are much stronger and won't bend as easily when hitting rocks.
-
SC Project Exhaust: You get a high-quality titanium exhaust from the factory. It shaves off weight and gives the bike a deep, exciting growl.
-
Stiffer Suspension: The KYB suspension has been re-valved and fitted with stiffer springs. This stops the bike from "diving" under heavy braking and keeps it stable in the rough stuff.
2. Engine & Power
-
The "Magic" Twin: The 660cc engine produces about 80 horsepower. It is noted for being incredibly smooth with almost zero vibration, making it surprisingly comfortable for long-distance cruising at 80+ mph.
-
Torque: It has a very usable power delivery. It’s not "scary" fast, but it has plenty of grunt to loft the front wheel over obstacles in the dirt.
3. Off-Road Handling
-
Weight Management: At 200 KG, it is lighter than most 800cc bikes. The weight is kept very low, which gives it a "magic" feeling of confidence. It feels more like a large dirt bike than a small tank.
-
Narrow Profile: The bike is extremely thin between your legs, making it very easy to move around and grip while standing on the pegs.
-
Smart Electronics: One of the best features is that the bike remembers your settings. If you turn off the ABS and Traction Control for the dirt, it stays off even after you turn the bike off and back on again.
4. Comfort & Tech
-
Wind Protection: Despite the slim, rally-style look, the windscreen does a great job of keeping the wind off your chest without causing annoying helmet buffeting.
-
Cruise Control: Unlike many of its competitors (like the Tenere 700), cruise control comes standard on this bike.
The "Know Before You Rent" List
-
Height: This is a tall bike. With a 914MM- seat height, riders with shorter legs may struggle to touch the ground comfortably.
-
Seat Comfort: The rally seat is designed for standing and moving around; it’s quite firm. For long touring days, you might find it a bit stiff.
